In an effort to create an all natural soap that didn’t irritate her skin and a soap that was free from petrochemicals, Herbaria founder and owner LaRee DeFreece decided to make her own soaps in 2000. After a significant amount of trial and error and testing soap recipes she found on the Internet, DeFreece created the perfect combination of natural oils and plant-based ingredients, enriched with emollients. Herbaria soaps contain ingredients such as coconut oil, palm kernel oil, soy oil, olive oil, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, jojoba oil and shea butter, to name a few. Herbaria soaps are 100% vegan and cruelty free.
Herbaria sells soaps featuring a number of different natural ingredient combinations. The company has so many different combinations, it would be tough to list them all here, so just a few Herbaria soaps include: almond green tea, French lavender, frankincense and myrrh, coffee, chocolate, bay rum, eucalyptus mint, almond spice, citrus oatmeal, avocado lemon, lime coconut aloe, may chang, peppermint, patchouli hemp seed oil, Indonesian safflower, sage lemongrass, spearmint orange, tea tree green tea, sea spice and sassafras birch.
Herbaria understands that even natural soaps can be harsh on sensitive skin, so the line also features a biotherapy skincare complexion bar and a sensitive skin, fragrance-free bar. The biotherapy skincare bar is specially formulated for problem skin. It contains saponified olive oil and/or rice bran oil, palm kernel oil and soy oil, glycerin, geranium essential oil, jojoba oil, lavender essential oil oatmeal, palmarosa essential oil, patchouli essential oil, tea tree essential oil and vetiver essential oil. The sensitive skin fragrance free bar has no added scents and the ingredient combination is safe enough to use on baby’s skin.
The sensitive skin fragrance free bar is extra moisturizing, thanks to an olive oil soap base, natural glycerin that occurs from the cold-process soap, shea butter and extra avocado oil. The bar contains: saponified olive oil and/or rice bran oil, palm kernel oil and soy oil, glycerin, avocado oil and shea butter.
The Herbaria product line recently released a natural citronella bar, an old-fashioned lye soap bar that is great for shampooing and a bar with almond essential oil. Lavender Oatmeal and Spearmint Orange are the top two sellers of all Herbaria soaps.
