Blanca was rescued in 2007, along with 16 other goats when the county seized the survivors of an abused and neglected herd. When the county stepped in, the 17 survivors were surrounded by many more goats who had already died.
Blanca passed away on January 6th of 2014. We are very sad, but try to think about the fact that she had 6 1/2 years of love, and we hope that helped to offset the year or so of unnamed horrors that she suffered before coming to us.
Jack
Blanca was pregnant with Blanquita when we adopted her. Unfortunately, Blanquita passed away when she was two years old. We adopted Jack as a companion for Blanca at that time. Jack was rescued because the people who ran the farm where Jack was born did not want him to end up as somebody's dinner, a fate that often befalls unwanted male goats.
Since Blanca's passing, Jack is now boarded at a wonderful farm animal rescue in Ft. Collins, run by a vegan couple, where he has many goat and sheep friends.
During the coldest days in Colorado, the goats always wore their coats, and Jack still wears his proudly.
The goats often tweeted from their Twitter account at
@GoatsInCoats, and Jack still carries on that tradition.
