We’ve been thinking about feminine hygiene products lately because we were surprised to find out that many companies who make these products test them on animals. It’s beyond our imagination why a business would harm an animal in the process of making tampons and pads for women. We think it’s a no brainer that a company producing feminine hygiene products would create them out of safe ingredients, like certified organic cotton or other non-toxic materials, so that there would be no need to test for safety on animals.

We’re always trying to make sure we live a cruelty-free lifestyle, which is why we were concerned to find out that some feminine hygiene products are tested on animals. This seems absurd to us. We’re not even going to go into the rationale that might be behind this, all we want to know is which feminine hygiene products are cruelty free and don’t involve animals in their production.

In our search for a line of feminine hygiene products that we could use and still keep our ethics, we found Maxim. Did you know that not all dental floss is vegan? We didn’t, up until a few years ago. It seems absurd to us that a dental floss would have animal products in it or be tested on animals. How do you even test dental floss on an animal? Forget it, we don’t want to know.

We just want to hear about more companies that are making vegan and cruelty-free flosses. It seems easy enough to us to leave animals out of the dental floss equation. Their lives are more important than our flossing needs, and we can create floss that doesn’t have animals in it. Enough said.

Vegans often find it hard to believe that a product one would think should be animal free actually isn’t. Many times, a product you’d assume was vegan and cruelty fee contains weird animal ingredients or it’s for some reason been tested animals.

We ran into this situation when searching for mouthwash. We thought we’d find a lot of simple, animal-free solutions made with antibacterial and refreshing plant essences. These ingredients are all we thought was needed to keep the mouth fresh and clean. But, when it was time to buy our mouthwash, we saw less than a handful of suitable products for a vegan and compassionate person.

We should mention that we were also looking for an all-natural mouthwash. But still, we were surprised at the lack of choices in our local store. It seems so silly to us to have to designate a mouthwash as vegan, but since we must, the following are the standout vegan products that you can buy in your local Whole Foods market.

Looking for some great vegan nail polishes? We were. We know its still winter where we live, and our toes are usually bundled up in our warmest boots. But, we still like to hit the beach on occasion and sink our bare feet into the sand, or just look pretty with colorful toenails while walking around in our warm house.

Which means, we need to keep a stock of incredible vegan nail polishes in our bathroom. So, we thought we’d search for some cruelty-free polishes that come in a range of beautiful colors. Even though we already have a fair amount of vegan nail lacquers lining our shelves right now, it’s always fun to find a new shade and in our recent search we found many.

We discovered NCLA, a vegan and cruelty-free beauty company based out of Los Angeles that formulates stunning animal-free polishes. NCLA makes a line of nail lacquers that we love mostly because they don’t involve animals in their creative. But, it’s also a top line in our mind because all of the nail polishes are non-toxic.
