We’ve seen the colorful Zum soap bars in co-ops and health food markets for years, artfully arranged on tables, tempting us to buy them. These soaps are vegetarian (goat’s milk is added), and their lip balms contain beeswax, but everything else this company sells is 100% vegan! Zum takes great pride in its cruelty-free status, and their line is earth-friendly. They offer everything from bath salts to shaving soap! They even have a home care line, with natural detergents, counter cleaners, dryer balls, and more!
Check out their website at www.indigowild.com, and be sure to click on the “skin care” and “body care” tabs. The Charcoal Zum Face Sugar Facial Scrub ($14.00) leaped out at us, since we just love a good sugar scrub. This one is a winner! The combination of cane sugar and charcoal renews and exfoliates your skin, gently scrubbing away impurities. It sloughs away dead skin cells and leaves your face with a radiant glow. We can certainly get behind that.
Bath salts are loads of fun, and Zum offers several different kinds for your pleasure. We’re fans of the Patchouli Ylang Ylang Zum Tub ($12.50), an intoxicating combo of sea salt, alba seed oil, rosemary leaf extract, rose petals, essential oils, and other sensual ingredients. Sink into your bathwater and experience the relaxation heady aroma of this product! You’ll never want to get out of your tub!
If you have a beard you need to take care of, you’re going to love the Zum Lab Beard Wash ($9.00). The ingredients are simple but effective: saponified, 100% coconut oil, baking soda, pure essential oils, and vegetable glycerin. The wash boasts a light orange scent, and is great for keeping those errant hairs in place. It’s gentle on your skin, because it’s made without detergents. Who wants to put detergent on their face?!
If you order $50.00 worth of products, shipping is free! For orders under $50.00, Zum charges a flat rate of $9.95. At present, Zum does not ship internationally. Although everything this company offers is vegetarian and cruelty-free, vegans should be diligent and check labels. The bar soaps all contain goat’s milk, and the lip balms have beeswax in them. Some of the other offerings may contain animal-based ingredients, so be sure to click on the “more information” link for each item.
If you don’t want to wait for your treats to arrive in the mail, Zum products can be found in a wide variety of stores, from Walmart to Whole Foods to your local health food market. Just click on the handy “store locator” tab to find a physical location near you! Happy shopping!
