Mineral Makeup

Spread the love

Mineral makeup has its critics and its fans. Some say that mineral makeup is safer for acne-prone skin because it’s light and natural, while others complain that it dries skin and makes women look older. Fortunately, the majority of women swear by mineral cosmetics because it doesn’t contain synthetic dyes, fragrances, and preservatives. It’s non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores, period.

Many mineral makeup products, such as BareMinerals by BareEscentuals, have an SPF rating of 15, so mineral makeup can help protect the skin against the suns harmful rays. Bare Escentuals even carries the Skin Cancer Foundation seal of approval as a sunscreen. Mineral makeup is also popular among vegans, vegetarians, and individuals interested in maintaining a cruelty-free lifestyle, mainly because mineral makeup is regarded as “pure.”

If you’re interested in mineral make up, whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian or you have sensitive skin, there are hundreds of cosmetics companies that sell mineral makeup products. Just a few of the top mineral makeup companies are Affordable Mineral Makeup, Beauty Bliss, Afterglow Cosmetics, Agape by DK, and Botanical Skin Works.

Beauty Bliss

Beauty Bliss Cosmetics was founded by Lynn Starner, a skincare website owner, in November of 2004. After seeing an ad on a late night infomercial for mineral makeup, Starner decided to give it a try. She loved the makeup, but it irritated her skin. It was at this point that Lynn came up with the idea to make her own mineral makeup – mineral makeup that wouldn’t irritate the skin. Starner began a search for the best raw or “all-natural” ingredients. She tested her creations on her own skin and on the skin of a best friend that she claims had “the world’s most sensitive skin.” Lynn’s makeup worked, so she began Beauty Bliss Cosmetics with a “simple foundation line, finishing powder, eyeshadows, and a few blushes.”

Today, Beauty Bliss Cosmetics sells 16 foundations, several finishing powders, and more than 100 eyeshadow and blush colors with names like “shy,” “divine,” “red oak,” and “pinktastic.” Beauty Bliss also sells bronzers, concealers, brow color, body dusters, lipgloss, a beauty cleansing bar, makeup brushes, jars, and an aloe vera based face refresher called “bliss spritz.”

Agape by DK

Agape by DK is a new cosmetics line created by veteran cosmetologist Dawn Koch. Ms. Koch chose the name of her company based on the origin of the word. Agape “is one of several Greek words that translates to “Love” in English. The word has been used in different ways by a variety of contemporary and ancient sources, including Biblical authors. Many have thought that this word represents divine, unconditional, self-sacrificing, active, volitional, and thoughtful love.”

Agape by DK creates cosmetics that are natural, safe, and certified cruelty-free. Agape cosmetics are free from dyes, parabens, perfumes, and other dangerous contaminants. The minerals used in Agape products are oil free, so they won’t clog pores, allowing the skin to breathe. They are also safe for sensitive skin and individuals with allergies.

According to the official Agape by DK website, “there is very minimal allergy risk with Agape by DK cosmetics since these sensitivities are usually caused by additives that irritate the skin. The additives that usually cause sensitivities are chemical dyes such as F, D, and C, perfumes, parabens and alcohol. Agape makeup does not contain any of these ingredients. Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide that are used in Agape cosmetics are actually anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and help to calm the skin.” Because the line utilizes natural minerals, the natural pigments provide ample sunscreen protection without synthetic ingredients.

Agape by DK Products

Agape by DK sells foundation, concealer, primers, blush, bronzer, eye shadow, and mineral veil. Most Agape by DK products are all in one, meaning, one product can act as a foundation, concealer, and powder. The reason for this is., DK mineral pigments are concentrated with no fillers such as talc. A minimum amount of DK product provides ample coverage, meaning, “it can act as a foundation, concealer, and powder all in one jar.” The minerals used in DK products are also frequently used in the entertainment field for concealing acne, rosacea, capillaries, and redness. The minerals “bind together on application and hold tightly to the skin. There is no running, smearing, or creasing and rarely will there be a need for touch ups throughout the day.”
