    Aveda Mission

    Aveda’s mission is to “care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society.  At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leaders and responsibility—not just in the world of beauty, but around the world”.  In addition to the mission statement, Dominique Conseil, President of Aveda, also says, “Beauty Is As Beauty Does”.

    Aveda Ingredients

    Aveda is one of the largest purchasers of organic ingredients in the personal care industry.  The company continually seeks to “increase the use of naturally-derived ingredients in its products.  What this means is Aveda ingredients are derived from plant, non-petroleum mineral, inorganic or other natural sources (water), and more than 50% of the molecular weight comes from those natural sources.  Aveda uses what it calls “green ingredients”.  These ingredients are one or more of the following:

    ·  Sourced from organic, sustainable or renewable plant-based origins
    ·  Represent ecological and cultural diversity by being sourced from different habitats all over the world
    ·  Provide fair compensation to suppliers
    ·  Do not negatively impact the ecosystems from which they are sourced
    ·  Are biodegradable
    ·  Involve environmentally responsible processing (for example, steam distillation rather than chemical extraction of essential oils)
    ·  Are animal friendly (Aveda does not conduct animal testing on its products or ask others to do so on its behalf except if required by law, and actively supports the development of alternative methods to animal testing)

    Aveda uses the following ingredients in its products:  Acacia, algae, aloe, argan, annatto, avocado, beetroot, babassu, black tea, blue chamomile, castor oil, cedar, cinnamon, cocoa bean, corn, cranberry, flax, green tea, lavender, mango, mulberry root, orange, sage, peppermint, orchid, quinoa, pomegranate, pine, mulberry root, rosemary, rose, lavender, shea, sunflower, tapioca, vanilla, wheat protein, wintergreen, ylang, ylang and yucca, to name just a few.

    Aveda Product Profile

    Aveda has several skincare favorites, including botanical kinetics hydrating lotion, tourmaline charged exfoliating cleanser, outer peace acne relief pads, and outer peace foaming cleanser.  Aveda’s Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser is a daily cleanser made with jojoba exfoliating beads and mango butter, and the Botanical Kinetics Hydrating Lotion is a moisturizing lotion that contains coconut, jojoba, chamomile and lavender.

    Aveda’s Outer Peace Acne Relief Pads exfoliate, cleanse and unclogs pores with a combination of plants such as tamanu, amla, boswellia, saw palmetto, organic lemon tree and rose geranium aroma.  Aveda’s Outer Peace Foaming Cleanser is specially formulated for acne-prone skin.  It is part of a 4-step regimen that has a 92% success rate if used for four weeks straight.  The Outer Peace Foaming Cleanser contains tamanu, amla, boswellia, saw palmetto, organic lemon tea tree and rose geranium aroma.
